asked the Taoiseach the number of special advisers he has employed since March 1987.

The number of special advisers employed by me since March 1987 is five. One has since died and there are four currently serving in my Department. Under the previous Administration, the number of special advisers was five.

50.

asked the Taoiseach (a) the number of people who are employed in his constituency office and (b) the number of people who were employed in his predecessor's constituency office.

The number of persons engaged exclusively on my constituency work in the Department of the Taoiseach is three and one person was so engaged under my predecessor.

51.

asked the Taoiseach the number of persons employed in (1) the constituency office and (2) the private office of himself and each of his Ministers of State at (a) 1 May 1987 and (b) 1 June 1988.

The number of persons employed in the general and constituency offices of the Taoiseach and Ministers of State in my Department at (a) 1 May 1987 was 19 and at (b) 1 June 1988 was 18. The numbers of persons employed in private offices on the same dates are 24 and 23, respectively. The total number similarly engaged on this work under the previous Administration was 38.
