Since March 1987, I have employed two special advisers.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare (a) the number of people who are employed in his constituency office and (b) the number of people who were employed in his predecessor's constituency office.
(a) There are six people employed in my constituency office at present, including one special adviser.
(b) Four people were employed in the constituency office of my predecessor. In addition my predecessor had a Minister of State who had seven people overall in his office.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons employed in (1) his constituency office and (2) his private office at (a) 1 May 1987 and (b) 1 June 1988.
There were six people employed in my constituency office on 1 May 1987 and five on 1 June 1988. Eleven people were employed in my private office on the dates in question. In addition, two special advisers are employed.
