asked the Minister for Finance the action he proposes to take in relation to the buildings in the ownership of the State on Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2 having regard to their current state of dereliction, under-use and unsightly appearance; if he will outline the action he proposes to take immediately to improve their appearance to enhance this important location of Dublin city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The future of the State-owned houses on the east side of Merrion Street is at present being reviewed. Pending the outcome of this review and having regard to present economic circumstances only essential works to preserve the fabric of the buildings are being undertaken.
