Vol. 382 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Board Employees' Pensions.

83.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay with some health boards in paying increases in pensions due to former employees of the health board in comparison to increases paid to staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that this question relates to the position of ex-employees in the South Eastern Health Board. I have been informed by the South Eastern Health Board that the delay arose because of the complexity of applying the terms of the current agreement on pay in the public service and the pressure on the existing staff resources of the board. Implementation of the terms of the agreement required that each person's pension be adjusted individually. I understand, however, that the increases with full retrospection to January 1988 have now been paid.
