Vol. 382 No. 9

Written Answers. - Micro-Wave TV Mast.

99.

asked the Minister for Communications if he has satisfied himself that the erection of a micro-wave television mast, 68 feet in height, located as proposed at ordnance survey number W 684 633, as advertised in the national press on 6 May, 1988 by his Department will not cause a potential air traffic hazard, given the fact that the former Department of Transport and Power had a height restriction in this area of 23 feet; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It will be a matter for any intending applicant for the MMDS franchise for any area to clear the proposed location of his transmitter tower with the Department of Transport.

The list of ordinance survey references published in my Department's advertisement of 6 May 1988 is intended primarily as guidance for intending applicants and are not rigidly fixed as the only location for transmitters. Once an applicant for an MMDS licence stays within the technical parameters set by the national frequency plan, he may select his own transmitter site.
