Vol. 382 No. 9

Written Answers. - Sligo-Dublin Road Improvements.

147.

asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, which is being made regarding the planning of major improvements on the Sligo/Dublin road which would by-pass Ballisodare and Collooney, County Sligo; if it is intended to proceed with the compulsory purchase process of the necessary properties along the route; if so, when; his estimations of the starting time of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Consultants appointed by Sligo County Council are at present engaged on the design of the proposed road. I understand that this design work is well advanced. The timing of construction of this route has been considered in the context of the preparation of a draft blueprint for road development which has just been completed. I will be making a statement relating to the blueprint very shortly.

A decision regarding the making of a compulsory purchase order relating to the land involved is a matter for the local authority.
