246.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in respect of the designated areas in each of the towns and cities throughout the country he will give an indication of: (a) the number of developments that have sought planning permission within the designated area; (b) the number of such developments which have been granted planning permission; (c) the number of such developments that have commenced construction; (d) the approximate floor area of those developments for which planning permission has been granted; and (e) the total value of all the developments for which planning permission has been granted and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Comprehensive information under the detailed headings sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department. Progress under the urban renewal scheme is however being reviewed by my Department with a view to compiling a detailed report as at end 1988. I will let the Deputy have a copy of this report as soon as it is available.
