asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a recent pilot study of the Irish Matrons' Association (details supplied) which covered eight medical wards in three hospitals, showed that the hospital wards concerned were considered unsafe at night; and the action he proposes to take to meet the deficiencies shown in the preliminary findings.

I am aware of press reports on this pilot study but the findings have not been presented formally to me or my Department, and without knowing the details of the report I am not in a position to comment or take any action on the matter.
