Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Third Level Students.

329.

asked the Minister for Education in respect of each of the past three school years, the number of students accepted into third level courses but debarred from receiving grants because of the four honours rule.

The information to enable a reply to the Deputy's question is not readily available in my Department.

I have asked my Department to collate data on the number of students entering third level courses which are subject to the four honours requirement for grant purposes. However, the numbers emerging from such an exercise could not be assumed to be debarred as a result of the four honour rule since a means test requirement must also be met.
