Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Otter Hunting Permits.

96.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any plans to outlaw the granting of permits to otter hunting clubs as otters are a protected species under the Wildlife Act of 1976.

While the otter is a protected species under the Wildlife Act, 1976, the Act also provides that licences to hunt this species may be issued in accordance with its provisions.

I will continue to consider any applications for such licences under the Act having regard to the conservation of the species.
