asked the Minister for Defence if he will introduce overtime payments for members of the Permanent Defence Forces in line with the existing scheme for gardaí.

An inter-departmental committee have been appointed by the Government to examine and report on the pay, allowances and conditions of personnel in the Defence Forces. Following receipt of the report of the committee it will be a matter for the Government to make decisions thereon. It would not be appropriate at this time to anticipate decisions arising from the report.
