asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the action, if any, he proposes to take to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the exact measures and timetable within which any such proposals will be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department will distribute a post-sized copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the Irish and English languages to all post-primary schools and have made a financial contribution to a conference to be organised jointly on 25 and 26 November 1988 by the law faculty of University College, Galway and the Irish Centre for the Study of Human Rights. A member of the Government will open this conference.
