asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount of public funds invested in the Clondalkin Paper Mills, Dublin 22; the present status of these funds; the steps he is taking to ensure that these funds were, or will be, used to create employment in Clondalkin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Total State expenditure on Clondalkin Paper Mills since 1983 has amounted to £7.619 million. The present status of the bulk of these funds is that there is a charge in respect of them over the assets of the company.
