Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Skibbereen (Cork) Library Proposal.

159.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will sanction the proposal for a new branch library in Skibbereen, County Cork; and, if not, when this much needed facility can be proceeded with.

173.

asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department will sanction proposals submitted by Cork County Council for a new branch library in Skibbereen, County Cork.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 159 and 173 together.

A local authority wishing to obtain grant funding for a new public library must first make application for approval in principle in accordance with procedures issued by my Department. Cork County Council have not, to date, made the relevant submission in accordance with these procedures in respect of a new branch library at Skibbereen.
