Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ennis, Clare, Hospital.

185.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the future role of Ennis County Hospital, County Clare; and the commitments he is prepared to make in this regard.

The future role of Ennis General Hospital is a matter in the first instance for the Mid-Western Health Board. Earlier this year the board carried out a detailed review of hospital services for the Clare area and decided that Ennis Hospital should continue to provide acute medical and surgical services for its present catchment population. I am not aware of any proposal by the board to change the situation.
