Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Primary Schools Reorganisation.

263.

asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has in relation to the primary schools in St. Mary's Place, Dublin 1; if she has satisfied herself with the level of communications with parents in relation to recent proposals for amalgamation, and the filling of the post of principal; whether she is willing to give particular consideration to the school in view of the disadvantaged nature of the area and the particular needs of the children involved; and if, in particular, she will ensure that a replacement principal and teachers are appointed without delay.

The reorganisation of primary school facilities in the area of St. Mary's Place is being considered in my Department in accordance with general rationalisation policy and in consultation with the boards of management, parents and teachers.

Pending a discussion on the future of the schools, suitable arrangements have been authorised, as a temporary measure, for the staffing of the individual schools concerned.
