Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Mallow (Cork) Hospital Services.

27.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make finance available in the Southern Health Board capital programme 1989 specifically for the purpose of providing an out-patient department, an accident and emergency department and an X-Ray department at Mallow General Hospital, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy will be aware that a scheme to improve and upgrade accident and emergency out-patient and X-Ray facilities at Mallow Hospital was submitted to my Department by the Southern Health Board last year. Approval to proceed with the scheme will have to be considered in the light of other competing capital requirements within the Southern Health Board area and the amount of capital funds available to my Department. It is a matter for the Southern Health Board to determine the priority to be accorded to the development of these facilities at Mallow Hospital.
