Vol. 384 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballybane (Galway) Housing Scheme.

186.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in proceeding with Galway Corporation's housing scheme at Ballybane, Galway.

There has been no undue delay in processing Galway Corporation's proposed local authority housing scheme at Ballybane. However, the capital provided for the local authority housing construction programme in 1988 has been fully allocated to meet expenditure on schemes completed, in progress or already approved but not yet started.

In relation to 1989, claims for capital for housing construction will, in accordance with normal procedures, be sought from housing authorities at the end of 1988. Pending receipt and examination of these claims, it is not possible to say what new schemes will be approved to start next year. This scheme will be considered in the context of this examination.
