Vol. 384 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Service Staff Pay and Conditions.

195.

asked the Minister for Health the representations, if any, which have been made to him by trade unions with members employed in the health services regarding the pay and conditions of their members; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Representations are continuously made by trade unions on behalf of their members both individually and collectively regarding pay and conditions.

Within the health services, representations are made at local level in the health boards, health agencies and hospitals, directly to my Department and through the recognised channels of the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board and the Labour Court. A national forum has been established including representatives of management and the Alliance of Health Service Unions in which major personnel aspects of the rationalisation of services can be discussed.

It would not be practicable to extract the details of these representations. However, if the Deputy has a particular case in mind I will see whether the information can be transmitted to him.
