Vol. 384 No. 2

Written Answers. - Curragh (Kildare) School Facility.

231.

asked the Minister for Education having regard to the urgent requirements of the area, if she will approve the senior cycle at the Curragh post-primary school, County Kildare and provide the necessary teaching staff thereat to allow facilities to continue without interference with, or reliance on other similar schools in the county; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Curragh post-primary school has been operating an unapproved senior cycle at the school since 1982.

Because of the low numbers involved and the accessibility of good post-primary facilities and the comprehensive range of subjects at senior cycle level in the adjacent post-primary centres of Kildare, Newbridge and Kilcullen, I regret it has not been possible to sanction the senior cycle.
