There were 623 staff employed in my Department at the end of September, 1987, while the current staff complement is 559.5 persons.
A total of 31 applications have been received from staff in my Department wishing to avail of the early retirement scheme. To date 27 staff have availed of the scheme and a breakdown by grade of these retirements is contained in the table I am circulating in the Official Report.
Details of the number of staff by grade who have to date availed of the early retirement-voluntary redundancy scheme in bodies under the aegis of my Department are also contained in the table.

The total number of staff employed in my Department in September 1987 was 3,438.
The Nuclear Energy Board is the only body under my Department's aegis to which the terms of the public service voluntary redundancy-early retirement scheme apply. None of the board's staff have availed of the scheme.

The total number of staff employed in my Department on 1 September, 1987 was 52.
None of the staff in my Department has opted for the public sector voluntary redundancy-early retirement scheme.
I do not have information along the lines requested by the Deputy in respect of the voluntary redundancy-early retirement schemes that have been operated by the bodies under the aegis of my Department.
