asked the Minister for Education the number of vehicles which are owned by her Department, or by agencies or State boards under her aegis; and the number of these vehicles which are capable of using lead free petrol.
Written Answers. - State-Owned Vehicles.
249.
The number of buses owned by the Department of Education which are currently in use in the operation of the school transport scheme is 679. Since these buses are diesel-fuelled the question of using lead free petrol does not arise.
The semi-State agencies or boards under the auspices of the Department of Education namely, the Higher Education Authority, National Council for Educational Awards and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, do not own vehicles and, therefore, the question of using lead free petrol does not arise.
