asked the Minister for Social Welfare in view of the circumstances of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 if he will make immediate arrangements for payment of unemployment benefit to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit on 27 October 1988. Following inquiries, his claim was disallowed for a period of six weeks from 24 October 1988, his last date of employment, on the grounds that he lost his employment through his own misconduct. He appealed against the disallowance and arrangments are being made to have his case heard by an appeals officer at the earliest opportunity. His entitlement to unemployment benefit will be determined in the light of the appeals officer's decision.
