Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - Border Area Living Quarters.

209.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has any plans to improve or replace living quarters or other buildings in military barracks in the Border area; the nature and cost of any such developments; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): The development of Army barracks throughout the State is kept under continual review and improvements are carried out on an ongoing basis within the limits of the resources available for this purpose.

A new barracks is being built at present in the Border area at Cavan and this should be ready for occupation in 1990. Routine maintenance works are carried out at all military barracks in the Border area as the need arises and funding permits.
