From March 1987 to the present I have appointed the following bodies to review various aspects of the health service:
—Review Group to examine eligibility to practice chiropody in the public health service and the future regulation, including training, of chiropodists.
—Advisory Council on health promotion.
—Advisory Committee on drug abuse,
—Executive Committee to develop proposals for policy and strategy on drug abuse,
—Commission on Health Funding to examine the financing of the health services and make recommendations on future funding,
—Working Group on means-testing arrangements in conjunction with the Departments of Finance, Environment, Social Welfare and the health boards,
—Review Group on computerisation systems and policies,
—Working Group to review delivery of dental services,
—Working Party on community medicine,
—Working Party review group on the audiology services,
—Working Group on a national cancer register,
—Working Group on child and adolescent psychiatry in the Eastern Health Board area,
—Review Group to examine all aspects of Temple Street Hospital,
—Review Group for "999" ambulance control in the Dublin area,
—Overall review of hospital services undertaken jointly with Comhairle na nOspidéal,
—Steering Group on Accident and Emergency Services in Dublin,
—Committee to examine medical genetic services,
—Working Group on cervical screening,
—Review of acute hospital services in Cork,
—Working Group on Medical Manpower Planning,
—Working Party on a New Scheme of Assistance for Disabled Drivers.
The foregoing list does not include those departmental ad hoc groups which I have set up to perform administrative functions.
