asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of money spent by the Office of Public Works in each of the past four years in acquiring or commissioning new works of art by living Irish artists from such artists or their representatives.

The amounts of money spent by the Office of Public Works in acquiring or commissioning new works of art by living Irish artists in the years 1985-1988 is as follows: 1985, 33,000; 1986, 10,000; 1987, 7,000; 1988, 12,000.
