Vol. 385 No. 3

Written Answers. - Vocational Teacher Allocations.

77.

asked the Minister for Education the teacher allocations to the Vocational Education Committees in each county; the counties in which supernumerary teachers became permanent full-time teachers; and the reason they were retained.

It would not be in accordance with normal practice to supply the information sought about the teacher allocation in respect of individual vocational education committees.

The designation "supernumerary teachers" is normally used in the case of VEC teachers to denote existing permanent whole-time teachers who cannot be accommodated within the teacher allocation authorised by my Department to a VEC for a particular school year. Supernumerary teachers as defined are therefore already permanent whole-time teachers.
