asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give an allocation to Offaly County Council to enable phase 1 of Clara water supply works to proceed as this has been identified as top priority by Offaly County Council given the area to be serviced by the improvement works envisaged.

Preliminary proposals in relation to the scheme referred to by the Deputy are under consideration in my Department. At this stage it is not possible for me to anticipate when a decision may issue to the council.
