Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - State Bodies Finances.

143.

asked the Minister for Finance the current approved and actual level of overdraft and overrun of each body under his aegis as of 1 December, 1988.

In relation to the four commercial State-sponsored bodies under my aegis — the Agricultural Credit Corporation, the Industrial Credit Corporation, Fóir Teorants and Irish Life — the level of overdraft at any given date is an aspect of the day-to-day running of each company and is not a matter in which I, as Minister, have any function. These bodies publish annual accounts which give details of their financial position.

The Central Bank, which itself has a lending function, does not have an overdraft or overrun.

As the Institute of Public Administration and the Economic and Social Research Institute are both private companies limited by guarantee, I have no role in relation to the financial arrangements of either body.
