Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - Accommodation for Disabled Person.

227.

asked the Minister for Health if he will assist in obtaining a place in either Cheeverstown House, Dublin 16, or St. Mary's Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8, or in a private nursing home for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 who is permanently and chronically disabled and who has been in hospital for the past five years and whose doctors have strongly advocated the above as being the only proper solution for him; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of residential care for this person is primarily a matter for the Eastern Health Board. The present position is that while there are no places available in St. Mary's Hospital, Phoenix Park, he has been placed on the waiting list for admission. It is considered that Cheeverstown House could not provide a suitable service in this particular case.
