Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballinakill, Laois, College.

281.

asked the Minister for Education the total projected cost to her Department of the purchase, extension, renovation and equipping of the Salesian College at Heywood, Ballinakill, County Laois including the cost of purchase of the land.

282.

asked the Minister for Education the estimated expenditure on upgrading and improving the Salesian College, Ballinakill, County Laois, in order that it might be able to accommodate approximately 800-900 pupils; the present debt on the school in Ballinakill; and the likely cost of providing the new facilities necessary at this school.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 281 and 282 together.

As a schedule of accommodation has not yet been prepared in respect of the project it is not possible to indicate at the present time the projected cost to the Department of developing a new single school at the Salesian College, Ballinakill to replace the post-primary schools at Abbeyleix, Ballinakill and Durrow.

The present debt, if any, on the school at Ballinakill is not a matter for my Department.
