Vol. 386 No. 2

Written Answers. - Scheduled Offences List.

24.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will give the schedule of suspected offences for which a person may be arrested under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, at present; when the schedule was last altered; and if he has any proposals to remove any offences from the schedule.

Offences under the following enactments are scheduled for the purposes of Part V of the 1939 Act: (a) the Malicious Damage Act, 1861; (b) the Explosives Substances Act, 1883; (c) the Firearms Acts, 1925 to 1971; (d) the Offences against the State Act, 1939 and (e) section 7 of the conspiracy and Protection of Property Act, 1875. The list of scheduled offences was last altered when the offences at (e) above were added to it by an order made on 17 November 1972. There are no immediate plans to delete any offences from the list; in this connection I would refer the Deputy to my reply to question No. 20 on 15 November 1988 Official Report, Vol. 384, Col. 266).
