Vol. 386 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

48.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when installation aid will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Before eligibility under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers can be determined, a detailed investigation of each applicant must be carried out. In this case the investigation has not yet been completed. If the applicant is found to be eligible, payment of the premium will be made as quickly as possible. I will keep the Deputy informed of developments.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when beef subsidies will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for EC Special Beef Premium Scheme grants on 50 animals on 24 June 1988 but when an inspecting officer called on 11 November 1988 all animals were sold. As it is a requirement under the scheme that applicants must retain animals for inspection for up to five months from the date of application, no grants are payable in this case. He did not apply for grants under the 1988 calf premium or suckler cow schemes and he is not eligible for 1988 cattle and equines, beef cow or sheep headage schemes as his lands are outside the disadvantaged areas.
