Vol. 386 No. 4

Written Answers. - Financial Services Centre.

64.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in respect of the international financial services centre at the Custom House Docks Site, Dublin 1, he will give details of (i) the companies which have been approved by the Certification Advisory Committee to date and (ii) the new jobs which will be created by companies issued with certificates to operate and also by companies that have been approved by the certification advisory committee, to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To date, a total of 47 projects from companies intending to locate in the International Financial Services Centre in the Custom House Docks area have been approved by the certification advisory committee. Of these 47 projects, 11 have received certificates under section 39B of the Finance Act, 1980. The names of these 11 companies are contained in my reply to the questions put down by Deputy Carey for answer on 7 December 1988. It is not the practice to give the names of the other projects which have been approved until they are actually certified.

As regards job numbers, the 11 companies certified to date have undertaken to create a total of 224 jobs. The other 36 projects which have been approved by the certification advisory committee involve 876 new jobs.
