Vol. 386 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

Respecting you ruling, Sir, on my Private Notice Question I now request your permission to raise on the Adjournment the alleged misrepresentation of Australian mutton as lamb in Iraq by an Irish company and the alleged involvement of this Government's export credit guarantees for products bought outside Ireland and the EC.

I will communicate with the Deputy. May I say, once again, that Standing Order 34 (2) provides that the time allowed for questions nominated for priority shall not exceed 15 minutes. The Chair has an obligation to enforce this Standing Order and to terminate priority questions when the 15 minutes have expired. Because of the limited time available I appeal to Members to be brief and to be relevant in asking supplementary questions. If Members do not co-operate, clearly we will not be able to get through the five questions within the time available.
