Vol. 387 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - FCA Allowances.

17.

asked the Minister for Defence the steps he intends to take to increase the allowances paid to members of the FCA; if he intends to have any consultation with members of the FCA on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

(Limerick West): Members of the FCA will benefit from the recently announced increases in pay and allowances for personnel of the Permanent Defence Force.

I should like to ask the Minister to address the question of when the second phase of the pay benefits that are to accrue to members of the FCA will be paid.

(Limerick West): When they are paid to the Permanent Defence Force.

That will be a long time.

As the Minister has refused, or failed, to give an indication in regard to the Permanent Defence Force perhaps he will show more courtesy to the families and dependants of FCA personnel by advising the House, and them, a little more succinctly than he has. Is the Minister not prepared to give an answer to my question?

The Deputy's question deals with the FCA.

(Limerick West): It appears that the Deputy was not listening to my reply to his first question.

I listened long and hard.

(Limerick West): It appears that the Deputy is confused. I suggest to him that he should read the Official Report and if he is still not satisfied he can discuss the matter with me.

After today they know they will not be getting it.

Perhaps the Minister will let us see the reports he has said he has fully accepted.

That is not a question and I am moving to Question No. 18.
