Vol. 387 No. 1

Written Answers. - FCA New Uniform.

26.

asked the Minister for Defence the reason for the delay in placing the order for the new uniform for the FCA as referred to by him at the FCA all-Army shoots in the Curragh, County Kildare in July, 1988; if he will sanction the placing of the order; when the new uniforms will be available; the cost per uniform; the amount of uniforms involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): Arrangements are being made at present for the provision of a new working dress for the FCA, which will comprise a tunic, trousers and sweater.

A supply of material required for the manufacture of the tunics and trousers is now in stock and a contract will be placed by the end of February for the manufacture of these garments.

I anticipate that the working dress will be available for issue to members of the FCA by the middle of the year and about 5,000 outfits will be supplied initially. The working dress will be issued to all serving FCA personnel on a phased basis. It is not the practice to disclose details of the cost of such dress.
