Vol. 387 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dart Connection.

43.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if, in the light of the possibility of the availability of EC Structural Funds in the run-up to the Single Market of 1992, he will change his decision to cancel any possibility of a DART connection to Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and Tallaght, Dublin 24; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 20 on 15 December 1988 in which I explained the position in relation to the question of extending the DART system to other areas of the city.

The public transport investment plans for the Dublin area include proposals affecting Clondalkin and Tallaght. These were submitted by the chairman of CIE, in response to my request for proposals involving bus based options or diesel services on existing rail lines. The proposals are being examined and have been submitted for consideration for grant assistance from EC Structural Funds.
