Vol. 387 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Grants.

51.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when cattle headage grants, cow grants and calf grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person named and his wife will be paid their 1988 calf premium and special beef premium when the batches which include their payments are processed. Their 1988 cattle and equine headage and suckler cow application will be processed further when they produce evidence in relation to off-farm income for year ended 5 April 1988.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department's grants to farmers are subject to the individual farmer having filled in farm profile forms for tax purposes; and, if so, the position of farmers with low valuation who have not yet been sent profile forms.

At present there are no tax clearance details required of farmers before payment of EC livestock premiums and headage grants or farm grants under the farm improvement programme and the western package. However, the tax clearance procedures, introduced with effect from 1 March 1988 apply to other grants payable by my Department under the disease eradication schemes, etc. These arrangements are currently under review.
