(Limerick East) asked the Taoiseach the estimate of net emigration from Ireland in each year from 1980 to 1988, inclusive.

Annual population estimates (which are subject to revision when the results of the next census of population become available) are made in respect of mid-April of each year from which estimates of net migration can be derived from the 12 months to mid-April. The estimates of net migration since 1980 are as follows:
