Vol. 387 No. 2

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

78.

asked the Minister for Labour if his attention has been drawn to the fact that after six years of effort the former employees of a company (details supplied) in Limerick are still awaiting payment of their redundancy allowances; that many are now in dire circumstance; and the steps he is taking to have this matter finalised as a matter of urgency.

Entitlements under the Redundancy Payments Acts has been paid in full by my Department to the employees of the company concerned. I understand, however, that the question of extra statutory payments has been referred by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union to the High Court and a date is awaited for the hearing of this case.
