Vol. 387 No. 2

Written Answers. - Castlebar General Hospital.

86.

asked the Minister for Health if plans have been drawn up for Castlebar General Hospital, County Mayo; and, if so, when the project will go to tender.

The original plans for this development provided for the construction of the hospital as a single contract. It was decided in 1983, due to shortage of capital funds, to split the construction into two phases. The tender documentation was then revised for phase I of the construction which was aimed at remedying the most serious defects in the existing hospital. The construction of phase I is now complete and the equipping process is in train.

The commencement of phase II of the project is being considered in the context of available capital funds.
