Vol. 387 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radiation Levels.

22.

asked the Minister for Energy the result of his study of the recent report of excessive radiation levels in soils around Sellafield; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed that a copy of the report referred to in the question will not be available to me for about three weeks. It will be examined in detail as soon as it is available.

Given newspaper reports that radiation levels in soils are causing problems for farmers working in these areas, would the Minister indicate if the findings of this report strengthen in any way the case he is pursuing against Sellafield?

Any information which would support the Government's stance would of course be helpful and be considered when the Government come to decide on what action to take.
