232,385 persons with birthplace outside the State were enumerated at the 1981 census of population. Detailed tabulations showing the enumerated population by country of birth are published in Volume 9, Part II of the 1981 Census Report.
Details on birthplace are not yet fully availble from the 1986 census. Information is being published as it becomes available on a county by county basis in the second series of local population reports currently being issued.
