Ireland has provided official bilateral assistance totalling £292,000 to Mozambique since 1978, comprising £240,000 for disaster relief purposes, £29,000 in respect of voluntary service assignments sponsored by APSO, £20,000 for NGO co-financing purposes and £3,000 in respect of training in Ireland. A statement detailing the funds allocated under each of these headings for each of the years 1986 to 1988 is given below.

The disaster relief funding totalling £165,000 for the three year period supported a range of relief programmes operated by various United Nations relief agencies and by Goal, Oxfam and Trocaire, which were aimed at the victims of Famine and Conflict, both internally displaced within Mozambique and living as refugees in neighbouring States.
APSO provided nearly £20,000 towards the cost of volunteers working in the medical and agricultural sectors.
