Vol. 387 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cork Credit Union Facilities.

75.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received an application from a credit union (details supplied) in Cork for assistance towards the building of further credit union facilities in the city centre area, which project has been undertaken with the intention of providing residents in that area with an alternative source of finance to moneylenders; and if he will give this application his highest priority.

An application under the scheme of grants to voluntary bodies in the social services area was received just yesterday, 20 February, from the credit union in question. The closing date for receipt of applications is 31 March 1989. No decision has yet been made on the application in question. As soon as a decision is made the organisation concerned will be notified.
