Vol. 387 No. 9

Written Answers. - Georgian Buildings Conservation.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance, in respect of the Georgian buildings at Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2 whether he has satisfied himself that the conservation of the buildings until a decision is made on their future is adequate; the estimated annual cost of providing security guards for the buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that having regard to present economic circumstances the buildings are being adequately maintained and conserved pending a decision on their future.

A small number of staff is still in occupation in some of the houses and security is provided by them during office hours and by a security system at other times. Security guards are not engaged.
