Vol. 388 No. 2

Written Answers. - Stardust Disaster.

50.

asked the Minister for the Environment the recommendation made by the Tribunal of Inquiry into the Stardust fire disaster which have not yet been implemented; if he will give the reasons for their non-implementation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 24 of the 25 November 1987 and the reply to Question No. 8 of the 25 June 1985. Apart from the few specific recommendations referred to in the latter reply which it was decided not to implement, the tribunal's recommendations represent a major input to Government policy on fire safety and the development of the fire services and have either been implemented or are being taken into account in that context.
