Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Irish Sea Study Group Reports.

115.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of interim reports compiled by the Irish Sea Study Group, on which committee his Department are represented; the topics covered by these reports; if he will make them available to Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas by placing them in the library; when the final report of the group will be completed; and if it is intended to publish it.

I understand that the Irish Sea Study Group, which is an independent body of scientific, governmental, academic and industrial representatives from all geographical areas surrounding the Irish Sea, has established four subgroups which are preparing studies under the following headings: (i) Nature conservation, (ii) Waste inputs and pollution, (iii) Exploitation of living marine resources and (iv) Planning, development and management.

I understand that the study group have yet to finalise matters in relation to the publication and launching of these studies, when completed.
