Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bord Bainne Procedural Changes.

89.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to the decision by the Registrar of Friendly Societies to refuse to accept the registration of the recently amended procedural changes in the operation of Bord Bainne; the fact that the new procedures were accepted in principle by the registrar some time ago to any changes in circumstances which would result in the current delay with the registration; if his Department have contacted or have been contacted by the Registrar of Friendly Societies or any other interested party; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts the Registrar of Friendly Societies has the responsibility for the registration of amendments to the rules of societies. I have no function in the matter. I understand that the registrar has not refused to register new rules for Bord Bainne. The position is that rules were submitted to him and objections to their registration have been lodged. The registrar is considering these objections and has not yet made a decision in the matter.
